Supporting residents policy - 5. Definitions

Support needs

Support needs can include recognised physical disabilities, invisible disabilities, mental health issues, or arise from any situation which makes someone less resilient and more vulnerable at a particular moment in time. For example, this can include moving home in difficult circumstances, losing a job, facing financial difficulty, a broken leg, caring for a premature baby, or suffering from grief following a bereavement.

We will not make assumptions and will consider individual circumstances to determine whether someone might have a vulnerability or support need, either temporarily or permanently.

Reasonable adjustment

A reasonable adjustment is any change made to our services to reduce or remove a disadvantage linked to someone's vulnerability or support need. It is not a 'better' service, but rather a change to make our services accessible to all tenants and help keep everyone safe and comfortable in their homes. The adjustments will depend on the specific needs of the individual and the situation.
