Medical and nursing support

A guide to the various nursing and medical support services that are available, including specialist, community and palliative nurses.

Specialist nurses for any other conditions

Where children are receiving care from a specialist hospital, the treating professional should produce a health care plan. In general, professionals write letters giving instructions and provide guidance. Schools might need help understanding the information in these letters.

Parents are responsible for informing the school team about any changes in their child's care requirements and providing the most recent letter with updated information.

In mainstream schools, you can talk to a school nurse. Find out about school nursing – Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
