CCNs provide nursing care to children and young people with acute or long-term complex needs in their home or community setting, such as a nursery or school.
The CCNs provide hands-on clinical care including:
- blood tests
- giving chemotherapy
- passing nasogastric feeding tubes
- giving intravenous antibiotics
- monitoring oxygen
They also teach and support parents and other caregivers, such as extended family and school staff.
