If your child is registered with an H&F GP and is 0 to 18 years old, your first point of contact is your GP, health visitor or school nurse. If you need to register with a GP in the borough, please visit find a GP – NHS website.
Urgent care and emergencies
If you need urgent care, go to an Urgent Care Centre – Hammersmith and Fulham Centres for Health. They treat minor injuries and illnesses that require urgent treatment that cannot be seen by your registered GP.

Health visitors
Health visitors have a key role in assessing children’s development through the early years of life. They work with the family and other health professionals to support the child’s development appropriately.

School nurses
If your child goes to school, you can talk to a school nurse – Central London Community Healthcare Trust.
The service provides support to all children and young people from 4 up to 19 years of age with a Hammersmith & Fulham school place.
School nurses offer training on a number of medical conditions affecting school age children in addition to:
- mental health
- relationships
- sex and health education
- health promotion

If your child has additional health needs, your GP, health visitor or school nurse may refer you to the children’s community nursing service. If your child is in hospital, they may refer your child directly to other specialist services.
