We will tackle unlawful subletting and tenancy misuse to ensure that our housing is occupied by the authorised household and that homes are let to those with a genuine housing need.
Tenancy fraud is detrimental to our tenants and sub-tenants and results in fewer homes being available for those who genuinely need them. Properties used fraudulently are more likely to be neglected and in a state of disrepair and more likely to be associated with anti-social behaviour and crime. Subtenants are likely to be unaware of their situation and are at risk of financial loss, eviction and homelessness.
This policy sets out how we will prevent, identify, and address suspected cases of tenancy fraud.
