There are several reasons why a property becomes void:
- termination – a tenant supplies formal written notice that they are ending their tenancy
- death - a tenant dies and there is no successor to the tenancy
- transfer - a tenant moves to another council housing property owned or managed by Hammersmith and Fulham Council
- abandonment - a tenant leaves the property without proper notice
- eviction - we have a court order for possession of the home and have carried out an eviction
- decant or re-housing - the tenant is being re-housed because their property has been badly damaged by fire or flood or is any other way defective and unsafe. And the extent of repair work requires the tenant to move out, for the repairs to be made
- demolition or regeneration - on very rare occasions requires demolition or is awaiting regeneration
Once any of these circumstances apply, we will start the empty homes/ voids management process.
