Your home should be equipped with the following:
- smoke detection in the living areas and hallway
- heat detection in the kitchen
Please contact us if you think this isn't the case.
If a fire breaks out in your home an alarm will sound loudly and on repeat. There is no main alarm in the building, only in your home.
What to do in the event of a fire in your home
If a fire breaks out in your home or your immediate neighbour's home (next door or next-but-one), no matter the time, day or night, make sure everybody evacuates immediately. Do not tackle the fire yourself.
As you are leaving your home, close all internal doors and your windows if safe to do so. Ensure the last person out firmly shuts your front door.
Let your immediate neighbours know you are evacuating your flat. Give them an opportunity to evacuate as well, shouting 'Fire, Fire' while banging on their front door to alert them.
Never use the lifts to help you evacuate quicker, even if you can't see any smoke or flames nearby.
Once you've evacuated your building and you're in a safe place, contact the London Fire Brigade by phoning 999.
Do not attempt to return to your flat for whatever reason until the London Fire Brigade has confirmed your building is safe to re-enter.
What to do in the event of a fire in your building
Your home is designed to contain fire and smoke.
It is also designed to keep fire and smoke out from anywhere else in the building.
If a fire breaks out in any other part of the building, and does not directly affect your home, then you are advised to stay put in your home and await further instruction.
If you wish to evacuate, leave closing the door behind you and use the fire escape staircase to exit the building.
