Fire Safety in Your Home - 3. Supporting our residents

Published: 26 September 2024

The council recognise that some residents may have physical difficulty leaving their home when a fire happens. Other residents may have a non-visible disability that affects their ability to leave or know what to do in an emergency situation.

We are committed to helping you stay safe and also work with partner organisations, such as the Carers Network.

The Carers Network can be contacted at:

For anyone that would like help or support, the council will arrange to:

  • carry out a free of charge Person-Centred Fire Risk Assessment (PCFRA), where we will discuss your needs with you and decide how best to help you keep safe from fire
  • provide you with a free of charge Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP). This is a plan for keeping you safe in an emergency. This will be either that you evacuate safely yourself with the aid of specific equipment or information, or by establishing a process whereby you receive assistance from London Fire Brigade

If you need help or advice, please contact our Fire Safety Team:

Fire Safety Plus is an initiative established several years ago, to assist residents with their fire safety concerns and deal with any risks or issues that may arise.

We also provide electrical testing and can discuss the replacement of faulty large electrical goods free of charge.

A Fire Safety Plus appointment can be arranged for any resident who would like to discuss fire safety in their home by emailing us at firesafetyhousing@lbhf.gov.uk
