Improve your energy efficiency

This page offers practical advice for everyone to reduce energy consumption and enhance the energy efficiency of their homes.

H&F Healthy Homes

The H&F Healthy Homes scheme has replaced the Winter Ready Homes Scheme.

We're offering free support to help you save money on energy bills and keep your home warm through our new H&F Healthy Homes programme.

As your compassionate council, we understand that the rising energy costs affects many of our residents. We're here to help make your home more comfortable and affordable to heat.

Our support includes three areas of service:

1. Energy saving advice and support

Making your home more energy efficient isn't just good for the environment – it helps you save money, makes your home more comfortable, and can improve your wellbeing.

Our expert advisors provide tailored support to help you understand your energy use, reduce your bills, and access help if you're struggling with energy costs. We can provide this support in multiple languages and work with you to find solutions that fit your household's needs.

2. Free home visits

Our experienced advisors can visit your home to give you personalised advice on making your home warmer and more energy efficient.

They'll assess your current energy use and heating system and can install free energy-saving measures including:

  • LED light bulbs
  • draught-proofing
  • radiator foils
  • hot water jackets and more!

How we've helped: Recently, our experts supported two elderly sisters aged 95 and 97. They identified serious issues with their heating and electrics, installed emergency heating measures, and helped them access more than £10,000 in grants for a new boiler and insulation.

3. Help with further financial support

Making bigger improvements to your home can lead to significant long-term savings on your energy bills. We can help you understand what improvements would work best for your home and guide you through accessing funding support.

Our advisors can help you apply for schemes including:
