Through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump or biomass boiler.
Fossil fuel heating systems include oil, gas or electric.
Heat pumps work by using electricity to extract heat from the outside air, operating like a fridge does, but only in reverse. Not only are these heat pumps a more eco-friendly way to heat your home, but they can also significantly reduce energy bills.
Heat pumps may not be suitable for all buildings, but well-insulated homes could save money and will cut greenhouse gas emissions by installing one instead of a gas boiler.
