Birth to 3 months – Start for Life
Your midwife will support you:
- during your pregnancy
- the birth of your baby
- for at least 10 days after you have given birth
Mental health support
Your midwife will ask you about your mental health, as she knows it is low mood and anxiety at this time and wants to support you.
If you had a difficult birth previously, and feel anxious about the birth of this baby tell your midwife. She may refer for extra support.
You can access midwife services at:

- a family hub
Health visitor services
Within 14 days of the birth of your baby, a health visitor will make a home visit to review you and your baby's wellbeing.
Healthy weight service
Your baby may be referred to the NHS healthy weight service. This service supports children to grow into a healthier weight or maintain a healthy weight, rather than lose weight.
Baby weigh
Baby weigh is also available from birth to 5 years old. This is a service where you can discuss any health issues and have your baby weighed and measured.
This service is available at:
Children's centre groups
You will also be invited to access children's centre groups. This invitation will be after your baby is born and includes:
- baby massage
- development advice
- communication advice
- infant feeding support
