24 to 36 months – Start for Life
If your child is two years old and attends an early years provision (childminder, preschool or nursery), the staff will undertake an observational assessment called the EYFS Progress check at age 2 (Learning) and share their report with you. Your Health Visitor will also arrange for your child to have the Healthy Child Programme review at 2.5 years (Development) and share their report with you.
In some cases the Early Years staff and the Health Visiting Service will invite you to a 2-year-old integrated review (Learning & Development).
About integrated reviews
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) Progress check at age 2 and the Healthy Child Programme review offer 2 opportunities to:
- identify additional needs for children aged 2 to 3
- work in partnership with parents, carers, guardians and any relevant professionals to put the right support in place for the children who need it
Since 2015, the government has encouraged early years providers, local authorities, and health visiting services to work together to combine the Healthy Child Programme review and the EYFS Progress check at age 2. This is known as an 'integrated review'.
