Keeping our community safe
While the primary responsibility for crime prevention lies with law enforcement agencies, the council remains committed to ensuring community safety.
Our dedicated Law Enforcement Team, consisting of 72 officers, serves as the eyes and ears of the council, working closely with the community and the Metropolitan Police.
In the last year alone, our officers have conducted an impressive 85,000 patrols, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to keeping our streets safe. We have responded to and effectively addressed 11,167 nuisance requests and managed 470 cases of anti-social behaviour.
Good lighting makes the public feel safer. We have also made our street lighting more energy efficient by switching 8,000 lamp column heads to SMART lighting.
Through these concerted efforts, we aim to create safer and more secure environments for all residents, contributing to a sense of peace and wellbeing within our communities.
The cleanest streets
Our ongoing efforts to maintain clean streets include the installation of new dual recycling and litter bins, graffiti removal, and weed control measures.
These initiatives aim to create a welcoming and hygienic urban environment, instilling community pride and wellbeing.
To date, we have removed over 4,800 instances of graffiti, while weed removal is carried out 3 times a year.
