Thriving street markets
Managing over 14 vibrant street markets such as North End Road Market in Fulham and Lyric Square Market in Hammersmith, we provide platforms for local businesses and community engagement.
Efforts to revitalise these spaces include infrastructure improvements, reduced fees for new market traders, and attractive enhancements such as colourful branding and seasonal planting, contributing to the overall appeal and vitality of our streets.
North End Road Market has been serving our community since the 1880s.
We are offering new market traders reduced pitch fees and parking support for up to 18 months to build and grow the market after the recent regeneration works.
The market continues to serve as a cornerstone of our community. Initiatives to support new traders and enhance market infrastructure reflect our commitment to preserving these important cultural institutions while building economic growth and community cohesion.
We have been:
- creating seating areas
- replacing paving and kerbs
- and improving the market pitches
We've installed colourful identity branding imagery and wayfinding signage, including lamppost banners and new planting.
Play Streets and street parties
Play Streets and street parties have emerged as successful initiatives, providing children with safe outdoor spaces for recreation and socialisation.
Over the past year, we have held just under 100 events in outdoor spaces and parks.
While organising play streets is straightforward, it is crucial to consider factors such as neighbour consent and traffic management to ensure a positive experience for all residents.
It is very easy to organise a Play Street or street party.
Our riverside
With a picturesque riverside spanning approximately 1.5km along the River Thames, we are committed to promoting community engagement and enhancing the riverside experience.
Initiatives such as public art installations and community events contribute to the vibrancy and cultural richness of our riverside areas.
