Apply for a new permit

Apply now

You can apply for a residents' or housing estate parking permit online if you have a full driving licence that is valid in the UK, can prove that you are a resident in our borough and can prove you are the main responsible person for your vehicle. See requirements

Please make sure that you are eligible for the permit before you apply. We can only issue a permit if ALL supplied proofs meet the requirements.

If you don't have all the required proofs now you may still apply for a permit. If you are applying for a 6 month or 12 month permit, you may be eligible for a temporary permit which will cost £100, this will allow you 30 days to supply the missing proofs for us to approve your permit. If you don't supply the documents within the 30 day limit we will cancel the permit and you will forfeit the fee paid and you will need to make a new application.

Please see Costs for new emissions based charges and check the emissions band your vehicle will be eligible for. Your v5c will show the emissions of your vehicle, or you can go to GOV.UK - vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk to check your vehicle's emissions.

What happens after I have completed the online application form?

When you have completed the application process and submitted the form to apply, we will review the application and proofs. You will receive an email to confirm we have received it.

Once reviewed, you will receive an email from the permit team confirming it has been approved. We aim to process your application within 2 working days.

If you haven't supplied sufficient proofs we will send you an email with a request for further information. We may offer you a temporary permit. (See above)

If declined, we will let you know by email telling why the permit has been declined.

Once your application has been approved you will be sent a confirmation 'Permit approved' email with the details of your new permit and payment link to make your payment online. Please make the payment within 7 days of receipt of the email. Your permit may be cancelled if payment is not successfully received within 7 days.

Once your payment has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email that your payment has been processed and the full permit details. You will be able to start using your permit immediately.
