Get summer ready at Hammersmith Park’s new outdoor gym

Hammersmith Park has a new outdoor gym. It’s free, accessible and open to fitness fans and novices alike.

Installed close to the park’s Wood Crescent entrance in White City, it’s now our eighth outdoor gym in the borough. It was installed after requests by residents earlier this year.

“This new outdoor gym is open to everyone and is entirely free to use,” said Cllr Sharon Holder, H&F Cabinet Member for Public Realm, who opened the gym on Thursday (18 July).

“Come on down and try it out with your friends and learn a new exercise. The equipment is accessible for wheelchair users too to ensure everyone can enjoy getting fit outdoors.”

The gym has 11 workout stations, focused on cardio and body weight workouts. The new equipment includes:

  • a leg press
  • weighted bench press
  • calisthenics unit with accessible parallel bars
  • cross trainer
  • stationary bike.

The gym includes several accessible stations, including an arm pedal bike and chest press station that can be comfortably used by wheelchair users.

The new installation was paid for and installed at no cost to the taxpayer, thanks to our tough negotiations with developers as well as Fields in Trust, who contributed almost £13,000 to the project.
