Get ready for a pop-concert-turned-musical that will transport you back to the dizzying highs and crushing lows of your teenage years.

Lyric Hammersmith’s Fangirls is their biggest production yet.

A loud, glittery, and funny portrayal of adolescent passion, it doesn't shy away from the messier aspects of fandom culture.

At the heart of the story is 14-year-old Australian schoolgirl Edna (Jasmine Elcock), whose whole world revolves around Harry (Thomas Grant) – heartthrob of British boy band Heartbreak Nation

Her obsession with Harry, shared with frenemies Jules (Mary Malone) and Brianna’s (Miracle Chance), serves as a gateway into the tumultuous world of teenage girlhood. Where every emotion is felt at maximum intensity.

Glitter pop and growing pains

Yve Blake's high energy, high tech show expertly showcases the giddy excitement of first infatuation, and extreme pop culture fandom.

Three digital screens and a light-up stage floor make up the backdrop, shifting between Edna’s online and real world.

And the musical’s oh-so-catchy pop score – including angst filled ‘Got No Chill’ and ‘Actually Dead’ – perfectly captures the importance of music in adolescence and the growing pains of friendship drama and family tensions.

For adult viewers, the songs are set to trigger a nostalgic journey through their own teenage years.

Fangirling

Fangirls is more than a coming-of-age play, it's a testament to the power of collective passion.

In an era where fandoms for global artists like Taylor Swift and BTS make headlines the show celebrates the sense of belonging and community that these shared obsessions can create.

The show takes an exclusively wholesome stance on online friendships, at a time when internet interactions are often viewed with suspicion.

And Edna's mother Caroline (Olivier award nominated Debbie Kurup) offers a perspective that allows parents to both emphasise with intense teenage emotions and share the concern that comes with watching young people grow up.
