Hosted by West London charity DanceWest, the Tea Dance with a Difference is free to adults in the borough aged over 60 – with tickets priced at £10 for other guests.

Guinness World Record-holder and performer Symoné will join to show off her jaw-dropping roller-skating, hula-hoop routine. The professional cabaret artist will combine circus-style hooping with dance before leading a voguing workshop showcasing the unique dance style that originated in New York in the eighties.

Music will also feature at the afternoon event – which runs from 1.30-4pm – and will include an award-winning steel pan band, as well as Hammersmith resident DJ Isaac Okoh on the decks.

"The tea dance will be a really lively, fun and intergenerational event," explained Rosie Whitney-Fish, chief executive and founder of DanceWest. "One of the reasons the Tea Dance with a Difference is so important to us is that it brings different people from across the community together.

"A tea dance shouldn't be limited to doilies, Vera Lynn, waltzes and afternoon tea. What would happen if we re-imagined the concept of a tea dance, reinvigorated it and used it as an opportunity to promote inclusivity?"

The winter Tea Dance with a Difference is part of charity DanceWest's programme of free and low-cost dance, health and wellbeing activities that run throughout the year.

"Most importantly we hope spread some joy and kick off the festive season," Rosie added.
