Many across the borough are suffering with financial hardship and not all can afford expensive memberships and sports classes. If you're looking for an affordable way to keep fit, to try a new sport, or are searching for an accessible fitness activity, why not check out one of the options listed below?
Whether you're looking for a gentle form of exercise, a women's only class, or venues that offer concession prices, there's something for everyone in our list of accessible options.
Activities for older residents
If you're looking for physical activities designed for those aged 50+, Open Age has got you sorted. The charity works across H&F to help older residents maintain their physical and mental fitness and develop new hobbies.
Its activities include:
- Edward Woods Community Centre (W11 4TX)
Yoga
Monday – 10:30-11:30am - Bishop Creighton House (SW6 7PH)
Steady & Stable: Falls Prevention Exercise Programme
Tuesday – 11am-12 noon - St John's Church (SW6 1PB)
Pilates
Wednesday – 1-2pm - St Andrews Church (W14 9SA)
Zumba
Thursday – 10-11am

Affordable fitness centre memberships
All H&F residents have access to affordable membership options at three Better leisure centres: Lillie Road fitness centre, Hammersmith fitness centre, and Phoenix fitness centre. Hammersmith fitness centre has had a recent upgrade and is ready for your visit!
As well as concessionary prices, they also offer all-inclusive Disability memberships which include free access for an accompanying career:

- Lillie Road Fitness Centre
- Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool
Disability inclusive sport activities
If you're looking for accessible, all-inclusive sport activities from tennis to dance, we have a range of classes for all disability types, including:
- Sands End Arts Community Centre, DanceWest (SW6 3EZ)
Move It Mondays
Monday - Mencap Activity Centre (W6 8LH)
Sports, including swimming, fitness, yoga and dance organised through your personal care and funding agreement
Women-only activities
If you're looking for a woman's only exercise class, why not check out the Phoenix Fitness Centre's weekly programme of fun, social, fitness activities.
Their classes include:

Monday – 5:30-6:15pm - Core Stability
Wednesday – 7:45-8:30pm - Basketball
Thursday – 7:30-9:30pm - Swim for Women
Saturday – 5-6pm
Or, if an organised class isn't for you, why not explore our borough by foot at your own pace and take advantage of the free facilitates in some of our parks.
Walking through H&F
We have several self-guided Walkwell routes that vary in length and showcase different parts of the borough, from the St Paul's to St Peter's route (pdf 1.9MB) along the Thames, to the Beyond the Bush route (pdf 1.7MB) past Television Centre.

Parks and green spaces
Or, if you fancy a more localised, shorter walk, why not visit one of our award-winning parks?
Nineteen of our parks and green spaces have won Green Flag awards, meaning they're of the highest possible standards, are beautifully maintained and have excellent facilities.
Many of our parks also boast free sports facilities, from tennis to basketball courts. These include:
