You can get support to access work if you have a disability or health condition and are:
- a current employee or
- just about to start a paid role
Action on Disability can speak with your employer
Action on Disability (AOD) can speak with your employer about your support needs and create a plan, so you can access work.
Get a support worker
AOD can also make an application to the government to pay for an in-work support worker through the 'Access to Work' scheme. See 'Government funding to access work' below.
You can also get support from an AOD trained support worker, as part of the AOD Employment Services Programme.

Government funding to access work
The government's 'Access to Work' scheme can help pay for things like:
- costs of travelling to work, if you cannot use public transport
- support workers, like a BSL interpreter, a job coach or a travel buddy
- one-to-one sessions with a mental health professional
- communication support at a job interview if you have a physical or mental health condition or learning difficulty and need communication support
You do not need to be diagnosed with a condition to apply.
