H&F Council's in-house repairs team is making the repairs service stronger.
The 46-member team is completing repairs for our residents faster and on the first attempt.
The team completed 99% of all routine repairs assigned to them quickly and on time in January. This was an improvement on the 92% of repairs completed on time in December.
Their work has also reduced the council's reliance on outside contractors with 42% of repairs being addressed by the in-house team. In total they carried out more than 8,000 repairs last year.
Such success has been made possible by the way the council has changed its approach to repairs after listening to residents' feedback.
Thanks to residents, H&F Council has looked at how it manages external contractors and makes the most of its own, in-house repairs team.
Central to the council's approach is the new White City depot, set up last year. This well-equipped base is helping the in-house repairs team get repairs sorted quickly and efficiently.
Their work involves carrying out damp and mould and communal area repairs across all council homes in H&F. They also handle all the internal repairs for older residents in sheltered housing schemes and across White City Estate.
Importantly, the team includes five local residents who are repair specialists and understand the local community.
To ensure success, the council is continuing to work closely with its resident-led working groups. Their feedback is vital – it's helping the council make further improvements and manage all contractors to provide the quality repairs residents need.
