Lifelong H&F resident and former BBC worker Peggy Baker has passed away at the age of 100.

Described as a "legend in White City and loved by all those who knew her", the centenarian has left a legacy of joyful memories from her years in the borough.

From dancing at a renowned local stage school, to working for the BBC at its former home at Television Centre in White City, Peggy led a vibrant life, said her daughter, Peggy O'Neill:

"Mum was a legend in White City and Shepherd's Bush and loved by all those who knew her."

"We were all so blessed"

Last year, Peggy celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at White City Community Centre in India Way. She was joined by H&F Mayor Patricia Quigley.

Having moved to Batman Close when it was newly-built, Peggy's family expanded over the years to include seven children, 19 grandchildren and at least 30 great-grandchildren. "We were all so blessed," said daughter Peggy, 74. "She was so lovely."

Having enjoyed time with her family after turning 100 last year, Peggy sadly passed away at Charing Cross hospital earlier this month following a stroke.

"The doctors, nurses, care workers and porter were fantastic, and mum was really cared for," said Peggy. "We couldn't have asked for more."

Peggy Baker's funeral will be held at Ruislip Crematorium on Friday 7 February, 12pm. Mourners welcome to join family at Ruislip Rugby Club following the service.
