Our outstanding programme of support has now been recognised nationally by national experts and parent champions.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council's online support for children and young people aged up to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) has been named the best in England.

The praise comes from the National Association of Family Information Services who looked at our dedicated Local Offer for SEND webpages. They also assessed our co-production work with local parents to create and promote the website and how easily users can navigate the digital pages.

Cllr Alex Sanderson, Deputy Leader of H&F, said:

We want to empower families and young people to make the decisions that are right for them. From offering help with first steps for speech and language support, through to advice about youth clubs and work experience, we want to make sure that every young person in H&F is supported to thrive and live happy, fulfilling lives.

"Our local offer has been built with the help of experienced residents, local families, service providers and our expert partners. They've produced the entire offer with us, and have ensured that residents always have the freedom to pick and choose the support they want. Congratulations to everyone who was involved in achieving this well-deserved award."

H&F also invites families and caregivers to participate in our offers, which are posted regularly on our Family Hub website. Support and events are also offered at our new, state-of-the-art specialist Family Hub at the Stephen Wiltshire Centre in Queensmill Road, Fulham.

Supporting residents and their families

H&F's support for younger residents with additional needs includes educational, health and care provisions, financial support and travel care, and help with employment and preparations for adult life.

It was co-produced with residents, professionals and organisations from across the borough, including Parentsactive, Young H&F Foundation, and the Action on Disability Youth Board.

"This invaluable resource serves as a beacon of support for families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities," said Reema Sharma, Parentsactive Coordinator.

"We're pleased to be working with H&F Council on this vital resource and delighted to have been recognised with the award."
