TfL restarts roadworks on A40 Westway

After roadworks were halted for the festive season, repair and maintenance on the A40 Westway is about to restart.

A40 Westway in White City

The Westway will be closed eastbound on weekends from Friday 3 January to Monday 17 February from the Westway roundabout and Marylebone flyover to allow 'safety critical' work to be done on the 50-year-old joints of the elevated roadway.

Eastbound lanes will shut from 10pm on Fridays to 5pm on Mondays, with signed diversions guiding motorists along alternative routes.

All roadworks were suspended over Christmas to reduce disruption to traffic and trade.

The new phase of work on the A40 will last seven months. TfL is working on the expansion joints on the flyover, which grow and shrink depending on the weather, and replacing them.

Similar work to the westbound lanes of Westway will run from 21 February to 19 May, with the exception of Bank Holiday weekends (18-21 April, 2-5 May and 23-26 May).

Transport for London, which is coordinating the work, has pledged to keep neighbours informed of closure dates.
