A magic carpet ride awaits audiences at the Lyric Theatre, with a spectacular reimagining of Aladdin that brings the classic tale right to our doorstep in Hammersmith.
This fresh take on the story follows local charmer Aladdin (Andre Antonio) as he navigates life while, supposedly, helping at his mum's 'Wishy Washy' launderette.
When he meets the quick-witted Jasmine (Aleyna Mohanraj), sparks fly. But their path to romance isn't straightforward, especially with Jasmine's scheming stepfather Abanazaar (Andre Pepper) in the picture.
Panto veterans lead stellar cast
The show cleverly blends local references, contemporary pop culture and traditional panto elements with a talented live band adding an energetic soundtrack throughout.
Meanwhile, panto veteran Emmanuel Akwafo steals scenes as Widow Twerkey. He's returning for a third triumphant year at the Lyric and proving why they're a firm audience favourite.
Jodie Jacobs , another Lyric regular who previously delighted audiences in Cinderella and Dick Whittington, brings powerhouse vocals and charm to the role of the Genie. She forms an unexpected connection with Widow Twerkey that adds an extra layer of heart to the story.
Song and dance spectacle
The production features creative reimaginings of familiar songs, including Getting to Know You and A Thousand Miles, and playful takes on Beyoncé's Run the World (Girls) and Rihanna's Take It.
Spectacular dance numbers and even a magical flying carpet ride leave audiences spellbound.
Director Nicholai La Barrie and writer Sonia Jalaly, who previously delighted audiences with Jack and the Beanstalk in 2022, have created a panto that masterfully balances family-friendly humour with clever references for the adults.
Tickets from £15 available at the Lyric Hammersmith website or box office.
Theatre for all
With financial support from H&F Council, the Lyric's commitment to making theatre accessible to all continues to shine. Since 2011, we've been providing free tickets to local schools to give more young people their first taste of live theatre.
And through the Free First Night scheme, hundreds more residents enjoy free tickets to every mainhouse show and panto.
