Traditional Christmas carols meet modern classical music as more than 130 singers celebrate the festive season with a lively winter concert.
The Addison Singers' classical choirs will join in joyful song at their concert on Saturday 7 December.
Music lovers can prepare for a warming evening of seasonal sounds as the group's chamber choir and larger oratorio choir perform works ranging from medieval carols to 20th century and contemporary composers.
The singers will launch the evening with a rousing rendition of the British Christmas carol Sir Christèmasat 7.30pm at St Peter's Church, in Southfield Road, Acton Green.
The festive programme will see the 30-strong chamber choir perform the winter-themed movements of award-winning contemporary composer Jonathan Dove's The Passing of the Year.
The group will also perform 20th century French composer Francis Poulenc's Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël.
The choristers have taken on pieces that are "all characterised by their wide textural and dramatic scope," explained conductor Matthew Thomas Morgan.
New take on a Christmas classic
Weekly rehearsals at the Polish Social and Cultural Association centre in Hammersmith's King Street have prepared the groups for the sensational two-hour performance.
The oratorio choir of 100 singers will continue the concert with Poulenc's Gloria, "something truly as kaleidoscopic as the lights on a Christmas tree," added Matthew.
Next, the singers will journey through to the modern day, as they perform British composer Bob Chilcott's Christmas Oratorio, which was first staged live in 2019.
"It's a modern adaptation of, arguably, the most famous story ever told – the Christmas story!" said Matthew.
Book tickets for the Addison Singers' festive concert priced £19.10 for general admission, and £3.38 for under 16s.
