Have your say as TfL considers axing bus 414

The proposed change will merge routes 414 and 14.

The 414 bus route could be axed under a proposal by Transport for London.

The route from Putney Bridge through Fulham and Parsons Green to Marble Arch would disappear. Instead, more route 14 buses would run.

The 414 and 14 use the same roads for long stretches, and passenger numbers on the 414 have halved in recent years. But if the 414 vanished altogether, some passengers would have to take two buses to reach their destination.

TfL has launched a month-long consultation and is encouraging any passengers who would be affected to have their say.

Trip to hospitals

The biggest effect is likely to be on people using the bus to get to the Royal Marsden, Chelsea & Westminster and Royal Brompton hospitals.

Without the 414 service, they would have to use routes 14 or 74 or change buses to keep their appointments. Thanks to Hopper fares, a second bus journey made within an hour is free.

Bus 14 currently runs from Putney Heath to Russell Square, while the 414 goes from Putney Bridge tube station to Marble Arch.

"We continuously review the bus network to reflect changing customer needs," said TfL.

"As much of routes 14 and 414 use the same roads, we propose to merge the routes. The 414 would no longer run between Putney Bridge and Marble Arch, but the 14 would operate more frequently."

There's usually a bus every 10 minutes. TfL would shorten that to every eight minutes, Monday to Saturday, and every 10 on Sundays.
