More #94 buses on busy route to Piccadilly Circus

Extra buses on one of west London’s busiest routes mean shorter waiting times at stops.

The #94 which runs from Acton Green to Piccadilly Circus will be more frequent on weekend mornings.

The #94 – which runs 24 hours from Acton Green to Piccadilly Circus – will be more frequent on weekend mornings from tomorrow (Saturday 31 August).

Instead of running roughly every quarter of an hour, the buses will now run every eight or nine minutes.

It follows a study by Transport for London which predicts that already high passenger demand for the 24-hour route will grow further.

“We are continually improving and adapting our bus network,” said Josh Freestone from TfL. “We keep frequency changes under close review to ensure demand continues to be met. The flexible nature of the network means we can make changes at relatively short notice.”

Improvements will be detailed at bus stops and shelters. The #94 runs round the clock from Acton Green to Piccadilly Circus via Askew Road, Shepherds Bush and Notting Hill Gate.

On Saturday mornings from 5.30am to 10am it now operates every 8-9 minutes (instead of every 10-15), while on Sunday mornings it will run every 12 minutes from 5.30am to 9am instead of every 15.

Route 148 buses will take a little longer

However, gaps between buses on route 148 from White City bus station to Camberwell Green will be longer because of Transport for London’s roadworks on the A40 Westway.

From this weekend, buses run every 12 minutes instead of every 10 minutes, Monday through Saturday daytime. There are no changes to the frequency at other times.

As routes 148 and 94 run along the same roads from Shepherds Bush Green to Marble Arch, passengers should be able to catch one or other bus about every 6 minutes, Monday through Saturday.

Road journeys will be slower

Road journeys around Westway are going to be slower from Monday 2 September until the middle of October.

The westbound lanes of the A40 slip road from the A3220 West Cross Route to the A40 Westway, via the Westway roundabout, will be closed as work continues to replace the 50-year-old flyover support pillars.

The West Cross Route from Holland Park roundabout to Westway roundabout will also be shut off to northbound traffic.
