Television Centre Live summer events return to White City

A summer of fun, including live music, food and drink, markets and film screenings in a string of free events at Television Centre in White City.

Head to Television Centre in White City for a summer of fun, including live music, food and drink, markets and film screenings in a string of free events.

In conjunction with Next Door Records in Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, and a host of other local creative partners, there are activities to enjoy, inspire and take part in at Television Centre Live.

Here’s what’s on offer in Wood Lane:

Independent art house Kite Studios is hosting a free printmaking workshop on Wednesday 19 June, from 12.30pm, showing you how to create your own colourful artistic prints.

On Thursday 4 July, Next Door Records hosts a live music open decks session from 4.30-8pm; just bring along your favourite records and have a go spinning on the decks.

Then get hands-on with a clay-throwing workshop on Wednesday 10 July at 12.30pm, where Kite Studios will show you how to make your own ceramic bowl, plate and cup on a professional pottery wheel. Tickets are limited, it’s free to register and complete beginners are welcome.

On Wednesday 17 July, TV Centre partners with The Royal College of Art for its end-of-year artist showcase; a free public event on the forecourt from 5.30-8pm with animated works beamed on to the big screen.

Pull up a chair or beanbag on Thursday 25 July to watch a free film screening on the forecourt of work by members of the local White City Place artist-run charity HQI... a chance to see experimental shorts and a full feature-length movie (5.30-8.30pm).

Always wanted to be a drummer? In partnership with local rhythm experts Malambo Music Association, there’s a free African drumming and instrument workshop on Thursday 22 August, from 12.30pm. Join in the creation of an original funk track.

The standout event is Television Centre Live’s arts market on Saturday 31 August, from noon-6pm, with the best of West London’s creative expression on display with more than 30 artists displaying and selling paintings, sculptures, jewellery, and textiles, to a soundtrack of live music hosted by Next Door Records.

Next Door – the bar, record shop and cafe next to Bush Hall – is also staging a further open decks session on Thursday 12 September.

Every event this summer includes food and drink from The Broadcaster’s pop-up al fresco bar on wheels, all set against the backdrop of the former BBC headquarters building.
