Hammersmith & Fulham Council has unveiled four new Disabled parking bays to help residents access shops in Hammersmith town centre.
We've worked with a group of local Disabled residents to improve parking and make pick-ups and drop-offs easier around King Street and its side streets.
The introduction of these four new bays means that Blue Badge holders can park for free for up to three hours.
Kate Betteridge, local resident and member of the Disabled Residents Team at H&F, said: "The new Disabled shopper bays mean I am able to access central Hammersmith again.
"I can now do my banking and access health services and even enjoy shopping in grocery stores and other shops because I know I have options to park. It's good for local businesses too as it means more Disabled people will be able to support them.
"The bays offer plenty of space, so manoeuvring to park is easy. It's a great idea to make these bays time limited as it means more people can use them. Just don't forget to put your Blue Badge clock up!"
Where to find the new bays:
- Down Place – Located just off Bridge Avenue, the new Disabled parking bay in Down Place provides convenient access to popular shops, including the nearby Primark.
- Macbeth Street – Three additional Disabled parking bays have been established on Macbeth Street, near the Macbeth Centre and across from the Plough and Harrow pub. These spaces offer a safe and accessible option for those visiting King Street.
Livat shopping centre car park
In addition to the street-level bays, Disabled residents can take advantage of FREE parking in the Livat shopping centre's car park.
This alternative option provides flexibility and convenience for those exploring the town centre.
By prioritising the needs of Disabled residents, we're making a positive impact on the community, one parking space at a time.
