Music duo Chase and Status have forged a partnership with grassroots football club Hammersmith FC to become their main shirt sponsor.
Club founder Tommy Fish described the sponsorship as "a deal-changer" – but it's following a pattern of big-name stars pairing up with clubs.
Singer Robbie Williams is said to be poised to bid for Port Vale, while Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney own Wrexham. Now the hope is that backing from Chase and Status will provide a fresh spur to both men's and women's football in west London.
Just embarking on a tour of Europe and the USA, the duo won best album in 2022 for What Came Before, but it's what comes after that has fired up the Hammersmith FC family of four teams, who play at the Club des Sports facility in East Acton Lane, just off Uxbridge Road (nearest tube - Acton Central).
Chase and Status, who have signed a two-year sponsorship deal, already have a track record of collaborating, including producing for Rita Ora and Rhianna.
Hammersmith FC
Launched during Covid by fans Fish and Akin Okunola, Hammersmith FC was introduced to Chase and Status's manager by a mutual friend.
Will Kennard, who grew up in Hammersmith, explained: "It's a way for us to support a grassroots club whose accomplishments have been huge in its short journey so far… in particular on the women's side. We both have young daughters, so it's important to us to empower them by supporting inspirational women."
The 2023 Lionesses England team chose the Chase and Status single 'Alive' as one of the stadium tracks when they scored. The duo now have now collaborated with Hammersmith FC on a line of limited-edition football shirts and streetwear for the club, aimed at broadening the fanbase of the club's men's and women's teams.

For Tommy Fish, it's the next stage on a journey he hopes will ultimately lead to league football. "Our men and women have won back-to-back league titles for the last two seasons, and music, football and fashion cross over so much," he said.
"The fact that Chase and Status are local lads, and that they want to support grassroots, in particular, women's football, is a real credit to them. It adds to the warm, community-centric culture we're proud to have built."
Teams
Hammersmith FC's women's first team play in the Premier Division of the Greater London Women's Football League, competed in the FA Cup for the first time this season, and lost only once in the league during their first two promotion-winning seasons. The women's development team compete in the 2nd Division.
The men's first team play in the top tier of amateur football in the Southern Amateur League Division 1, having also won back-to-back league titles and promotions in their first full two seasons. The second team compete in the Southern Amateur League Intermediate Division 2.
