Pupils and teachers at Lady Margaret School in Parsons Green got an early Christmas present this year.
The Fulham school was named the 'London Comprehensive School of the Year 2024' in The Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide.
This is the first time the school has won the prestigious award.
Congratulations to all the pupils, teachers and staff at Lady Margaret on this wonderful news," said Cllr Alex Sanderson, H&F Cabinet Member for Children and Education.
"This is the latest example of the amazing schools we have in H&F offering local pupils the very best possible start in life."
Lady Margaret's prize win comes as all schools in H&F are currently rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
Best school in London
Lady Margaret headteacher, Elisabeth Stevenson, said: "I am so proud of all our pupils, parents and teachers. This award is a reflection of their endless hard work each year both in and out of the classroom.
"We have amazing schools in H&F and across London which are doing great work with our local pupils. This is not just with the impressive exam results but also includes the sporting achievements and work done in the local community."
This year, pupils at the school achieved an impressive set of A-Level results with 80 per cent of the Year 13 class earning A* to B grades, and 20 per cent receiving at least three A or A* grades.
One of the ways pupils at Lady Margaret give back to the community includes visiting St Johns and All Saints schools every week to read with the primary school pupils there.
The chamber choir will also be back singing at St Paul's Cathedral as they do every year after Christmas.
Meanwhile on the sporting field, the U13s football team recently won a London-wide competition which was played out at QPR's stadium, Loftus Road.
