Six new CCTV cameras have been installed to increase resident safety across Hammersmith & Fulham's award-winning parks.

The fully automated 360-degree cameras are located in previous 'blind spot' areas, which were selected based on resident feedback. They include:

  • Ravenscourt Park boardwalk (W6)
  • Hurlingham Park car park and pavilion (SW6)
  • Bishops Park skate bowl and riverwalk (SW6).

"These cameras give us the technological advantage to prevent and crack down on crime as and where it occurs," said Cllr Rebecca Harvey, H&F Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion and Community Safety. "They're part of investment in fighting crime – and its causes – in Hammersmith & Fulham."

It marks the launch of H&F's £5.4mil-strong upgrade programme one year ago, which has since seen more than 100 cameras upgraded in White City, Shepherds Bush and Fulham.

Better coverage

The state-of-the-art cameras are powered with solar energy and don't need to be connected to a power source. This allows us to place them wherever they are most needed, including high-risk locations our permanent cameras cannot pick up.

Using renewable energy, the cameras are an all-around green fit for H&F's parks and open spaces.

Next, the cameras will be rolled out to Wormholt Park, Shepherds Bush, and Furnivall Gardens, Hammersmith.

Densest network

The cameras are managed centrally through H&F's CCTV control room and form part of our extensive network – the densest anywhere in the country.

It gives the police along with H&F's crime-fighting services, including H&F's Law Enforcement Team and the Met Police, real time insights into what's happening in the borough.
