Hammersmith & Fulham Leader Cllr Stephen Cowan cut the ribbon at the new L'Oréal headquarters in White City last week.
Cllr Cowan was joined by Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor of London for Business – Thierry Cheval, L'Oréal's country managing director – and Hélène Duchêne, French Ambassador to the UK at the event on Friday 29 September.
L'Oréal is relocating its UK & Ireland corporate headquarters from Hammersmith Broadway into a new building for its 1,200 staff in Wood Lane, called Gateway Central.
The beauty giants will join this thriving tech, creative and fashion district in White City which already includes big names such as Imperial College London, Novartis, ITV and Ralph & Russo. L'Oréal is currently the world's largest cosmetics company.
The transformation of White City has been led by H&F's Industrial Strategy as we continue to make the borough the best place in which to live, work and play in Europe.
Training and education
The new Gateway Central building – designed by architects Allies and Morrison – also includes the new L'Oréal Academy, a flagship educational project which aims to train 10,000 new hairdressers a year from across the UK.
Vismay Sharma, of L'Oréal UK, said: "The new building is at the heart of an energetic and creative campus at White City Place located next to Imperial College and Westfield London, a location which is reflective of our ambition to become the leading beauty-tech company.
"Relocating our corporate headquarters is a unique opportunity to provide our employees with a workplace for tomorrow and a headquarters that best represents our creative and innovative company alongside our mission of beauty for all."
