Primary schools and local parks are once again set to benefit from sales of Christmas trees – thanks to Hammersmith-based garden design company, Shoots & Leaves.
The Trussley Road-based firm (which has been supplying trees in H&F for more than 20 years) is donating £5 to nominated local schools for each tree it sells. Hammersmith primary schools taking part include Flora Gardens, St Peter's and John Betts, as well as Sacred Heart High School.
The local sale sites in H&F are:
- Eel Brook Common, Fulham (near The Miski Lebanese restaurant) SW6 4SE
- Little Brook Green, Hammersmith (near Tesco) W6 7PB
- St Paul's Church, Queen Caroline Street, W6 9PJ.

Supporting local schools
"We employ a large number of people who live in H&F," says Shoots & Leaves founder Hew Stevenson. "And we're proud of our local links and the fact that we give something back to the community."
As well as freshly cut and side-pruned non-drop Nordman Fir Christmas trees, plain and decorated wreaths, bundles of spruce, holly, garlands, tree lights, barrels and stands are all available.
They offer a competitive delivery service – usually on the same day – and they are the only local supplier operating in the borough all year round.
The trees are hand-picked. "We walk around the fields and tag the best ones," Hew added.
Schools and parks benefit
Both the Eel Brook Common and Little Brook Green sites are rented from Hammersmith & Fulham Council, with the revenue earned being used to maintain local parks.
Shoots & Leaves is also at Acton Park, W3 7LJ (near the entrance on Uxbridge Road and East Acton Lane) and Cleveland Park in Ealing W13 8AH, as well as in Hampstead Heath, NW3 1TH.
Each year, Hew sells more than 5,000 trees to residents in the local area. You can also buy trees and accessories online.
