Hi, my name is Jess. I'm a social worker in the Hammersmith & Fulham leaving care team. I work with teenagers leaving the care system, helping them with their progress into adulthood and to reaching their dreams.
I've been working at Hammersmith & Fulham for 2 years now. I also did my student year here in the Child Protection Team and I've loved every minute of it and I found Hammersmith & Fulham to be an amazing place to work. It's a systemically trained borough.
I find that working systemically helps me work with families and work with other professionals to work towards meaningful change in people's lives and I think that it creates a really wonderful work environment.
I've been working hard with management to figure out ways to best support our young people.
Our LGBT youth face disproportionate discrimination, instability in life and much higher risk of harm and mental health issues. And I found that working with my management to think about how we can better support them, how we can increase stability in their lives and make them feel hopeful about their future, has been really important to me and I've been really happy with the support that I've received with that as well.
Hammersmith & Fulham is always looking for new social workers to join the team. So, if you're interested, please have a look.
