Anita and James - video transcript

James: Yeah, I think the best thing about working in our team is definitely the chances to direct work with children because then that's what everyone comes into social work for to be honest.

And yeah, I think having some quite streamlined paperwork processes, which means that we all other people that are able to do it. So, we have sort of protected times to be able to work with children as that's the most important thing at the end of the day.

Anita: Yeah, and just to add onto that. I think as part of doing the direct work. We have a lot of support from management to sort of facilitate those interventions for our young people.

I really value the idea of you know, working collaboratively across the service with different disciplines and you know different professionals in the service and that's something that's really powerful within Hammersmith and Fulham.

James: And yeah, I think the biggest thing is the systemic team. We have a dedicated systemic team which is made up of various therapists, either family therapists or from different therapeutic backgrounds.

You get a dedicated one of those per team and they're able to offer you either services to yourself, so one-on-one systemic consultation or even in a group setting or maybe coming to team meeting or something like that or they can also officer services to the families as well.

And it's really good to join up the thinking between maybe some of therapeutic services the family are getting from that systemic team and that inform your thinking as well about cases and stuff.

Anita: Yeah. So, for example, I work with a family therapist with one of my families and we do live stream work sessions together.

So, it's been really valuable and useful in having her, you know her way of thinking and the principles of systemic working being used within our sessions and yeah, the family really value that relationship that we have and we're able to work together.
