Who can use this service
This service is for children and young people with an education, health and care (EHC) plan.
The EHC casework service:
- may offer the family travel to school budget according to the circumstances of each case
- calculates the travel budget based on the distance the child or young person travels using a fixed rate per mile
For band one, for example, a distance range of 0 to 2.9 miles might have a budget of £10.53 per day, £52.63 per week or £210.53 per month.
For band 4, longer trips between 10 and 20 miles, come to approximately £26.32 per day, £131.58 per week, or £526.32 per month.
These figures are just examples and are not fixed amounts. Please note that these amounts are indicative and may be updated as budgets are reviewed.
To find out if a child or young person is eligible for help read our travel assistance policy.
