The Music House for Children
The borough’s tiniest music lovers will be treated to their own pint-sized concert in November in Shepherds Bush.
The latest in a series of Little Birdsong Concerts will take place on Tuesday 8 November at the Music House for Children, next to the Bush Hall in Uxbridge Road.
The live instrumental experience, specially created for babies and toddlers aged three months to three years old, will feature professional musicians performing a selection of traditional and contemporary music for their young audience.
The concept was devised by the Music House’s founder and director Emma Hutchinson, who is a specialist in early childhood music. It involves the idea of composing music inspired by babies and challenging the traditional roles of audience and performer.
“The concerts are really interactive for families,” said Sarah Mayer, Music House’s tuition and events co-ordinator.
“The babies and toddlers sit in a semi-circle and the musicians wander amongst them during the concert and perform directly to the children. The little ones are also free to crawl and walk around – it’s all very relaxed.”
Tickets for the event cost £10 per adult and allow one baby and two siblings to attend for free. The concert will start at 10.30am, with doors open from 10am, and lasts about 45 minutes.
