H&F continues fight to get kids fit

A new course of activities that promote healthy eating and more active lifestyles has launched in H&F

A new series of free specialist sessions to help families stay active and healthy this spring has just launched in Hammersmith & Fulham.

The third set of MEND sessions, backed by Hammersmith & Fulham Council, follows a successful launch earlier this year. The courses are being run to tackle childhood obesity and promote healthy, active lifestyles and good nutrition.

The courses form part of a three-year programme for under-18s and post-natal women with MEND, being short for ‘Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it!’

“We are determined to help our residents live active, healthy lifestyles and to tackle childhood obesity,” said Cllr Vivienne Lukey, H&F Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care.

“As part of our commitment to that we invested in the MEND sessions, which give people fun activities and ways to eat healthily and get more active without feeling pressured to do sport, or be on a strict diet.”

The programme is being run by provider MyTime Active and is available to new mums and children and young people in schools, nurseries and children’s centres with games and activities that focus on good nutrition and physical activity.
