Stock condition surveys

We are currently carrying out stock condition surveys on all our properties to help understand what further improvement works and futureproofing is needed to your home.

Our internal surveyors are doing the stock condition surveys across H&F.

You will receive a letter in advance of us calling you. We will attempt to book an appointment with you within a week of you receiving the letter. If we are unable to book an appointment with you, our surveyor will be door knocking.

We understand that this can be disruptive, but it is important for us to complete this survey of your home.

Frequently asked questions

What is a stock condition survey?

A stock condition survey is a visual inspection of the fixtures and fittings in your home, such as bathrooms, windows, and doors. Once we have this information, we can plan any future maintenance. A stock condition survey should take no longer than 45 minutes to complete.

Why do I need a stock condition survey?

It is important for you to have a stock condition survey to assess the physical condition of your home, e.g. your kitchen, bathroom, windows, doors, heating system and electrics. The stock condition survey is also important for identifying hazards or risks associated with your home and building, ensuring your safety.

Where will the surveyor need to access?

The surveyor will need access to all rooms, downstairs and upstairs, cellars, roof spaces, boiler, electric fuse box and gas meter.

When will this be happening?

You will receive a letter ahead of us calling to make an appointment with you. Once you receive the letter, we will call you to book the appointment. Alternatively, you can call or email us to make the appointment.

How long will the survey take?

The inspection should take approximately 35 minutes. This will vary however depending on the size of your home and whether the surveyor has already inspected similar homes in your area.

What if I miss the surveyor’s visit?

If you’re not at home, you will be left an appointment card so you can book a more suitable time for the surveyor to visit.

Does this mean I will be getting improvement works?

Not necessarily. The surveyor will collect information on fixtures and fittings. Once all the surveys are complete, the information will give us a short, medium and long term view of future maintenance and improvement programmes needed in H&F.
