About us

Melrose House Nursery School aims to encourage the development of happy, confident children in a secure and stimulating environment. Each day a range of activities is covered to enhance the intellectual, physical and social development of each child to ensure readiness for school. This is done through a motivated, experienced and trained workforce, a carefully planned environment and a close partnership with parents.

The nursery schools operate on the ground floor of privately owned homes. The children are split into two rooms, the Caterpillars (2 to 3 year olds) and Butterflies (3 to 4 year olds). Both nurseries have enclosed gardens.

Most of the learning is done through group play and fun activities. We pride ourselves on the one:one tuition each child receives daily and the excellent staff:child ratios.

Supporting children with additional needs

At Melrose House Nursery School we believe that equal opportunities for all are an integral part of education and we aim to build on the skills and experiences of each member of our school community. This is irrespective of race, gender, home background, or impairment, provided that there are good prospects of meeting their needs without unduly prejudicing the education and welfare of the other children.

The staff team work closely together and with parents to support each child's learning journey. By doing this, we can identify early if a child may have a specific need which may require additional support. Owing to restrictions on space, facilities and personnel trained to deal with profound disabilities, the nursery may be unable to admit children with physical or serious long-term emotional or behavioural disabilities.
