Harmony is a social enterprise nursery, established in 2001, in a direct response to working parents to provide childcare for children under the age of 5 years. We open 50 weeks per year from 8:00 AM until 18:00 PM Monday through Friday. We operate from a purpose built premises based in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Harmony is situated in one of the most deprived areas in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in London. The children and their families come from very diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Our staff have various qualifications in the field of early years, from Bachelor degrees, teaching qualifications to NVQ level 3.
We base the learning and teaching through Play principles and in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. We base our practice in meeting both genders' needs through a non-sexist curriculum. The majority of the staff are trained to run Speech & Language (SLT) group sessions, on a weekly basis which enhanced children's speech & language development and to support their concentration.
We nurture children's positive self-image through valuing their opinions; encouraging them to think independently, question and develop their own viewpoints. Furthermore, we plan and provide meaningful and relevant activities for the children.
Hence the successful cases working with children with SEND and gifted children through our consistence approach and active process that involves engaging the child and the family and providing the support needed. This is done by regular updates, sharing resources between nursery and home, involving parents in their child graduated response plan (assess, plan, do and review cycle) and staff updating their knowledge by attending seminars and further relevant literature.
