Part of the Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP) which provides a range of services to children and families, including therapeutic work and supervised contact. The therapeutic service is a flexible and holistic one, that considers the needs of a child as a whole. The overall aim is to provide therapeutic support for children aged between 3 and 17 who have been affected by domestic abuse.
The therapeutic service provides one to one therapy on a weekly basis and the child can be seen for up to 5 months. Sessions are 50 minutes and normally take place between 10am and 5pm. This specialist therapeutic service is led by a chartered psychologist and the sessions with children are facilitated by psychologists who are fully CRB checked, receive regular supervision and are members of the British Psychological Society. The psychologists use a range of different therapeutic techniques including creative arts with the aim of offering children a safe, consistent and confidential space to be able to work through their difficult feelings and providing a source of support / crisis intervention for children currently going through changes. This service is open to children that reside in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, Wandsworth and Hounslow. Please contact the centre for more information and for a referral form.
The therapeutic service also runs the Our Time Group, an ongoing specialist therapeutic group for children aged between 5 and 13 who have been affected by domestic abuse and now live in a safe environment. This service is open to children that reside in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. There are different groups for different age groups and these groups run over 10 consecutive weeks for 2 hours each week. Please contact the centre for more information about the groups and a referral form.
Therapy is by appointment only. We do not offer a drop-in service.
