Children today - Charitable Trust

Children Today raise funds to provide special equipment for children and young people with disabilities throughout the UK. Our aim is to ensure that every disabled child and young person fulfils their potential and leads an active childhood.

Grants of up to ?1,000 to provide vital, life changing specialist equipment. Children Today was founded in 1994 to help disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 enjoy a better quality of life by providing them with the specialised equipment they need.

We believe the provision of equipment and aids is vital in helping children and young people overcome their disabilities and enable them to lead full and active lives with their families and friends.

Many people assume?

that a child or young person with a disability would automatically get the equipment they need. Sadly, this is not the case. This is where Children Today can help.

If you would like to apply for a grant, please call us on 01244 335622 to discuss your application. Applications must be for specialised pieces of equipment for individual children (not groups or schools), and must be made by the individual applying, their parent, or legal guardian.

Children Today give grants for a wide range of equipment for children and young people with disabilities, that are not funded through the NHS. These include powered, manual and sports wheelchairs, specially adapted tricycles, bicycles, buggies and walking aids as well as specially designed sensory equipment such as Fibre Optic Sprays.

Please note: If you wish to apply for computer equipment, we work in partnership with the Aidis Trust who with their knowledge and experience, will be able to offer advice and assistance in identifying the computer most suited to your child?s needs.

The Aidis Trust is a Registered Charity that was established in 1975. It assesses individuals with disabilities, helping to determine the right computer communications equipment. They work in partnership with most agencies and organisations like ours, with complementary backgrounds throughout the UK.

If you are applying for computer equipment, please contact the Aidis Trust directly on 0207 426 2130.

Children Today has three main aims:

* To raise funds to provide grants for special equipment for disabled children and young people

* To raise awareness of the difficulties faced by young people and their families in accessing special equipment that will raise the quality of their lives

* To inform of the need for better services and provision for children and young people with disabilities.

We work hard to ensure that the service we provide for disabled children and their families is as accessible and as wide-ranging as possible.
