Ward description

College Park and Old Oak ward is located at the northern edge of Hammersmith & Fulham, and is bordered to the south by the Westway (A40).

It is the largest ward in the borough in terms of area and has the 7th largest population.

Residential areas are mainly situated in the south and north, separated by:

  • Wormwood Scrubs (a large area of common land)
  • HMP Wormwood Scrubs (a men's prison)
  • Hammersmith Hospital

The ward has a large ethnic minority population. Over half of residents live in socially rented homes and around a quarter are owner-occupiers.

The ward is ranked amongst the most deprived in H&F. The overall population is middle-aged and young, single and comparatively unskilled.

A high proportion of residents work in relatively low paid jobs, mainly in health and social care or the wholesale and retail trade sector. 1 in 6 residents reported having a long-term health problem or disability.
