Training for parents of children with autism

Cygnet logo

Barnardo’s Cygnets training is coming to Hammersmith. This supportive program is for parents of children with Autism who live in Hammersmith and Fulham and are aged 5-17 years old.

The aim of the training is to assist parents to understand Autism and how it might impact their child and family. The training will give advice, information, practical knowledge and ideas about options to help. It will also provide information about support options available locally.

These friendly non-judgemental courses give parents of autistic children, who face the usual positive and difficult challenges of parenting the opportunity to meet other people in a similar position and hear about their experiences in an informal but supportive atmosphere.
The training runs over 6 sessions of 3 hours each. Parents will need to attend all 6 sessions. This training is free to families and will be run multiple times each year.

The training will be delivered from the Stephen Wiltshire Centre (SWC) and each course will be delivered at different times. The trainers are Becky Powell, Service Manager for Short Breaks and Shelley Mulligan, SWC Delivery Manager. Please note there is no creche provided.
