Registering as a street trader – three easy steps:
1. Download and fill in an application form for a street trading licence (pdf 284KB), then contact the market and street trading team for an appointment.
2. Come and meet us face-to-face. Bring these documents with you:
- a completed application form
- public liability insurance for the year for £10,000,000
- proof of address (not older than three months)
- proof of ID – valid passport or full UK driving licence
- National Insurance number (NI card or letter from HMRC)
- food hygiene certificate not older than three years (if selling food)
- registration of food business certificate/document (if selling food)
- allergen matrix
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, Food Standards Agency)
- gas or (Pat) certificates if applicable
- two passport size photographs
- licence fee
- two passport size photographs signed and dated on the back
- registration fee (£67.90 for permanent licence or £36.40 for temporary licence) payable by debit or credit card
- signed and dated street trading licence terms & conditions form.
The documents you need to bring for any assistants named on the application form are:
- one passport size photograph signed and dated on the back
- proof of address (not older than three months)
- proof of ID – valid passport or full UK driving licence
- National Insurance number (NI card or letter from HMRC)
- proof of employers liability insurance if you employ assistants for £5,000,000.

Restricted items
Items that cannot be sold on market stalls:
- Bric-a-brac – such as second-hand goods and clothes
- knives – unless sheathed or covered
- indecent materials and inappropriate goods
- drugs paraphernalia
- children's toys that are not covered by the European law – unless they are cleared by the British standard kite mark
- fake and counterfeit products
- miscellaneous goods not quoted on the list of commodities
- pamphlets and leaflets – these come under the distribution of free literature licence.
Designated trading pitches outside QPR, Fulham and Chelsea football stadiums'
We get a lot of enquiries from traders wishing to trade outside one of the three football stadiums in our borough. These are Stamford Bridge (Chelsea FC) and Craven Cottage (Fulham FC) in Fulham, and Loftus Road (QPR FC) in Shepherds Bush.
There are limited designated pitches outside the stadiums and they are all currently occupied by regular traders. Should any pitches become available they will be advertised here on our website. Prices vary for each location.
Enquiries about new trading locations
We are not currently seeking new trading locations in the borough.
We will not be responding to enquiries regarding these matters.
Currently there are no vacancies at the Lyric square food market due to its popularity.
