All new graves purchased in the cemetery are lawn style graves which means a headstone only is permitted. The cemetery does however allow a small area at the head of the grave that can be planted. Please see below the regulations for lawn styles graves.

Any items left in the cemetery are left at the owner or visitor's risk and the cemetery cannot be held responsible for damaged or missing items.

It is the responsibility of grave owner(s) family to ensure that their grave is tended and kept tidy.

The planting of trees and bushes is not permitted, and any trees or bushes found planted on graves will be removed. The planting of trees and bushes can damage surrounding memorials and the roots can prevent burials in neighbouring graves.

No items should be placed, or any form of planting take place behind or to the side of the headstone or memorial.

An area at the head of the grave may be planted with annual bedding plants or used to leave items. This must not exceed 3 feet (91cms) in width and 18 inches (45cms) in depth.

Any items placed outside of this area will be removed by the cemetery staff.

Lawn style graves allow for a headstone only to be placed, headstones that cover the length of the grave are not permitted.

Floral tributes that are past their best or items left along the length of the grave will be removed after 14 days as these can hinder the maintenance of the cemetery.

We strongly advise against leaving glass or items that can be easily damaged on the grave as these can be broken by flying stones and debris from mowers or strimmers.

Lawn graves will be topped up and seeded in the lead up to turfing the grave. The laying of turf on a grave will take place 6 – 12 months after the burial has taken place depending on the season and weather. Any items placed on the turfed area after this has been laid will be removed.

All memorials fixed in the cemeteries are done so at the risk of the registered owner, the council are not responsible for any loss or damage to a memorial. It is recommended that memorial insurance is obtained from your appointed memorial mason.
