Memorial permits
An authorised memorial permit must be obtained before any works take place on a memorial. The tear off part at the bottom of the authorised permit must be handed in to the North Sheen Cemetery Office before works take place within the cemetery.
Masons must contact the cemetery office to confirm thew grave details, including ownership, grave number, fees and type of memorial allowed before the memorial permit is signed. Where there are two grave owners, the form must be signed by both owners for the permit to be authorised.
The memorial permit form must be completed in full before sending to the cemetery office, this must include a drawing showing the overall dimensions of the intended memorial, the proposed inscription, fixing method and any other relevant information. Additional forms or paperwork other than the allocated form will not be permitted.
The memorial permit fee must be paid in full before the permit is approved.

Locating a grave
If you are unsure where a grave is located in a cemetery, please contact the cemetery office and we will provide a map, or alternatively we will be able to mark the grave out for you.
The section and grave number must be engraved on all new memorial stones clearly on either the front or back of the headstone. The company name must not be engraved on the headstone without permission from all grave owners.
NAMM & BRAMM Membership
All masons working in the cemetery must be NAMM or BRAMM registered to work in a cemetery and should attach their membership numbers with the memorial permit. A copy of the Masons Public Liability Insurance must be sent to the Cemetery Office on a yearly basis.
Fixing the memorial
Masons must inform the cemetery office of the date and time that they will attend the cemetery to complete works. This will allow for staff to check if there are any burials taking place on the section at the time.
The cemetery reserves the right to ask a mason to leave the cemetery if they have not booked previously with the office.
Masons must stop work where a funeral cortège is passing, or a burial is taking place nearby.
The surrounding area must be left tidy after any completed stone works. If damage to a surrounding memorial occurs, the mason will be held responsible for any repairs necessary.
Any memorials moved for the purpose of burial must be replaced once the ground has settled.
